Whole House Water Filters

The consequence of industrialization and progress is the degradation of our natural water sources. Not only that, environmental abuse and neglect magnifies the crisis in our drinking water sources. We are in a time that tap water is not even safe anymore. We just can’t be sure of the safety and sanitation of the water we drink every day. The worst part is modern contaminants are as potent as ever. Heavy metals and other contaminants can be absorbed in the pores while we take a shower in unfiltered water. The solution to this concern is whole house water filters.

There are of course less expensive and less bulky filter systems out there. But if you need each faucet in your house flowing with safe, filtered water, then the whole house filter is just the system for you. Cost and efficiency is the main reason why you should not install separate filtration systems just for every water outlet in your house.

The whole house water filter manages your water supply in one big sweep. By centralizing the input of tap water from your main supply line and filtering that water all at the same time before channeling them to the many faucets in the house, the system frees you of maintenance concerns (which can be unnerving when having multiple filters).

There are three very important things you should put to mind before buying your whole house water filter.

First, make sure you dig up your house’s blueprint. This will give you time to think over installation difficulties and challenges (and devise solutions beforehand). The last thing you want is to disrupt the plumbing lines innate to the design and construction of your house.

Second, make sure that your filter system for the whole house can meet the water demand of your family. 10 gpm (gallons per minute) should be enough to meet your domestic water requirements. Going below this is courting water supply disaster. You water might be clean and safe, but if it is just dripping it defeats the water supply enhancement efforts.

Third, consider the impurities you wish to rid in your water. This does not only saves you money, but makes sure that you are “hitting” the very purpose of your purchase. If you are near mining areas, your filter system must be able to get rid of lead, mercury and other industrial chemicals associated with mining use. Having a whole house water filter that can’t cater to this is just a waste of money.
